New Member from Tri-Cities, WA

Hello to all from the east side of Washington State. Currently I'm new to the Subuaru 360 hobby however I have a passion for vintage cars as I have been building and restoring vintage VW's for a while and have a passion for all cars. I have owned show cars to rat rods and everything in between and have focused on the Subaru 360's as a new passion/interest. I am currently in the middle of build a 1966 VW Single Cab pickup that is very similar to the 360 pickup and my '64 Split Window Camper is very similar to the Vans. My desire would be to have a van to put in the bed of the SC as an accessory piece or a truck done to match my truck. At this time i'm looking to read, learn in hopes to some day acquire one. So I look forward to meeting folks with similar interests. I'll post a couple of photos of my VW's even though they aren't Subie's it will show what I lean towards. Thanks.

I have the exact same desire...to put my 360 van in the bed of a VW single cab pickup. It will JUST barely fit according to my measurements. The biggest problem is getting it up there. My thought was to lower the pickup as low as possible and making very long ramps, that would slide under the van for storage.

My total vision is this: VW Type 2 Transporter SINKA in antique white to match my 360, then both of my Motocompo motorcycles in the back of my 360. I've already begun the design for a custom rack in my van. They'll be mounted up high in the back so they can be seen through the windows.

I actually have my eye on a SINKA right now, but they're asking $18k for it...pretty pricey for a Type 2 IMO, but it might be a good deal in the long run. That's about double my current budget so I have no choice but to wait for the right one to come along anyways.

I guess we've all been dreaming the same dream. Although, I need something more quirky than a VW. I've been toying with a Tempo Matadoor and a Hanomog.

I've been chasing both these trucks for years.

The Matadoors are super cool and very unique. I have a friend here that has built a couple of COE's with diesels and probably could fit 2 - 360's on it as it's a big truck. As far as loading and unload for me that won't be an issue as I have a lift in my shop my biggest concern is tying things down without having to drill into the bed but ..... realistically I would have to put hooks in. Hard to do when I'm just restoring the entire truck. So something I have to think about. The other option if I can't find a Van would be for me to put an Isetta in the bed. I have a line on two of those but really enjoy the Subies. I'm part of the Tri-Cities Subaru Club and I they all run in modern cars my hope is to bring something that shows the roots of why they have WRX's, STI's etc... don't get me wrong I would love to have one of those as I love power and speed but right now not in the cards. As for the SINKA's keep an eye out on http://www.thesamba.com. I'm a big fan of Synchro's and Doka's as well. There's so much out there it's hard to keep focused sometimes.

When we lived in NJ I would go to the NY Auto Show
every year, that's where I saw my first Subaru 360 and
also first Tempo Matador (a van) and also a Commer van,
of the 3 it seems more Subaru 360s actually were sold here
and I have had my 360 van since Feb. 1975 and drive it
every day.

Welcome, Love your bugs. I restored a 68 in 82. It was a lot of fun. Similar car but different from these 360's. You can buy parts anytime.
