New Member in L.A. refurbishing a '67 Deluxe

#1 Post by SuBillRu »

Just drove a really special 1967 Deluxe from the Mesa Arizona area. These guys had it and apparently never touched it. I towed it home cleaned it up. After pulling out some Frankenstein wiring and replacing the fuse box, I have found out that something is amiss with the Ignition starter switch. Its not sending current to the Blue wire when its turned on. I got the tech manuals, and the BOR and am reading the hell out of it. I still need some small stuff like lens covers and a new rear view mirror, but I'll probably do a work around. Gonna flush and clean out the Tranny and the oil tank this weekend and then I am only waiting on tires and a new windshield before I take her out on a drive. Check her out after a preliminary cleaning of the decades of Arizona Dust. Thanks Subie girl and Brian! Image

Sweet! not too bad at all. What is up with the windshield? is that the plastic center portion delaminating or a reflection of oily aligators?

That's the one with the melted headlight surrounds. At first I thought you had some radical interior, then I noticed it was just a cat. Really doesn't seem too bad. It has the orange tint to it too, on the outside. I'm trying to figure out if my young was painte the current color in the factory or not. Yours obviously was not, but it looks pretty close to my young's color. I bought some fiberglass headlight surrounds from someone on ebay and the seem pretty good. After I test fit them I'll let you know how they fit. Welcome to the club and if I can help just ask.

Congrats on your find! You didn't mention braking issues; if yours are good then you have dodged a major bullet.

Welcome!
I had two people tell me that they saw a car like mine on a trailer on the freeway.
One told me the car was orange, neither told me which way it was headed though.

Might that have been you? I live in Palm Desert, CA and the I-10 comes through here.

There are no stated or otherwise validations or claims of any dodged brake bullets. I've Just today heard a lot about this brake dilemna. Since my fluid is too low to check, and my emergency brake cable is disconnected, I have no brake function to test. I'll hook up the cable and get back with you on that. Anyone know how to make cat gut brake pads? hahahaha.
