Hello Everybody!

So I was driving down into Woodinville last Saturday morning the 6th and was stopped at the main light when this little red van rolled through the light in front of me.

Up until that moment I did not know you could have a Subaru Sambar street legal in Washington! 6 years ago I tried to buy one from an importer in Canada and was told that I would NOT EVER be able to drive it on the road... it was a 1990 truck version that I wanted to convert to electric. So I gave up that idea. :(

So what the hell was this cute little thing with washington plates doing on the road? Well I hung a left across trafic and followed it and a little blue truck model into redmond to a car show. I was hoping to get a word with the owner but I would have to find someplace to park and walk back to the show.

I was out of time by then and needed to be at an old friends Mothers celebration of life. So I headed back home and called my nephew who lives in redmond to get his butt down to the show and find out how this was done.

Well he did not get there till the show was over so back to square one. So I sent a message to the shows promoters who never answered back and broused the pictures taken that day and guess what... A cute little red van with a facebook post.

It turns out I was following Stanley. Someone had made a comment under the facebook photo and so I did a search for Stanley and Subie Gal.

And so hear I am...

So... Where do I get me one? :D

My name is Scott by the way. Welder, fabricator, tinkerer, electrition, hydraulic plumber... and just about anything interesting I could get my hands on...

The key is the model year. The Subaru 360 van you saw was imported with 360 sedans and trucks in 1969-1970. They are hard to come by but not imposable. Patience and through searches will do you well. Ebay, Craigslist and driving around looking in yards and field may yield your reward.

If Ed is talking about the one I know about, it's a real gem.
I'm trying to figure out how I could scratch up the bread myself.
