New from Phoenix

Howzit? I'm Paul and i just bought a poor, neglected 360 Young from a chiropractor down the street. It's in pretty poor shape. At some point someone decided that chopping the top off would be a good idea. It doesn't look too bad that way but it needs some help. Anyway, it was also previously owned by an engineering professor at the university of Nebraska. Sometime in the early 70's he converted it to electric. I also don't have a problem with that, except to put in the electric motor they cut out most of the rear floorpan and mounted in a very strange wood frame. I'll post a pic here so you get an idea of what i have. The rest I'll put in the "projects" thread.

You got some guts! I love it. Poor Subie is right. Who would do that to a Young? Ed is the MASTER and he's (nearby.... somewhat  ) in Tuscon. This is the 3rd abandoned Subaru 360 EV I have run across in just the same number of weeks......what is that about?

From what I've learned, it used to belong to an engineering professor in Nebraska. He converted it to electric in the early 70's. He drove it for a few years that way and it's been sitting ever since. Not sure when the top came off or when the red paint went on but it's been like that for at least 20 years. I was thinking of making it a woodie.

Project Tiny Woodie

My wife says I should get one of those Euro plates for the front that says "NT CMPNS8TNG"

Well Paul, welcome to the Club from downunder...

I see some encouraging pointers to your restoration success...

1) The name of where you're from... Phoenix.

2) The fact that the poor liddle mite was owned by a chiropractor... perhaps he was trying to limber it up for you first ....

3) Most important - your proximity to the Guru.... Ed!

:D Good luck mate!

Cheers,

Ian

Welcome, It looks fairly promising, At least the outer panels left look fairly solid. And a good windshield. I am thinking of doing that to a chassis I bought to fix another 360. I think it looks fairly good as a convertible. Good luck and If I can help just let me know.
