Hello Everyone

I was in Peoria Arizona two weeks ago checking out some parts cars for my 68 MGB GT and saw this little car hidding behind an old Oldsmobile. There it was a 1970 Subaru 360. Well to make a long story short, I ended bringing the 360 back from Peoria to Tucson instead of the parts MG. So the GT will have to wait for its parts:) This 360 was originaly from Illinois and has been sitting in Peoria for almost ten years. The car is complete and in pretty descent shape. I met with Ed a few days ago and he was very helpful on giving me tips to getting the 360 fired up. The car only has 4000 or so original miles, so Im hoping all goes well in these next two weeks and the 360 should be running. Just wanted to stop in and say hi.

Great story. I guess that was a junkyard of some sort that you found the 360 in? Only in the SW could a thing like that happen! Post some photos when you can.

It was kind of a junkyard. The lady who owned the car past husband fabricated Harley Davidson parts, so he was also a car collector and vintage bike collector. I was checking a junkie mg gt that her son in law had on the property. It was a nice find. Even better when I get it running. I still am chopping at the bit to get my MG going by the spring hopefully but who knows with projects. I am defintely smitting on these 360's and contemplating picking up that silver Deluxe in Northern AZ.

So then a "private collection" of sorts... I recently had the opportunity to visit the mother of such collections. It's in Pennsylvania, not Arizona, so the outcome after 30+ years was a little different - it did turn into something more like a junkyard. It was being cleaned up, last I heard, so it may be gone now.

I know how the East Coast can kill cars. I grew up in Montgomery county area PA. I was raised around british cars mainly Austin Healey's my dad a had a few around when I was a kid. I used to go searching for Healey's and other unknown British classics sitting in back yards sinking in the mud back in the late 80's when on my bike. Back then it there was always something cool to find. Now days things are different. AZ is good for killing interiors. I do agree the 360's are a different breed of machine from the British, both facinating vehicles and so far from boring compared to todays mediocrity in cars.
