Hi from Orlando

#1 Post by RobPatton »

Trying to (yet again) jumpstart my resto project. Starting with brakes, and wanted to make sure I had the "year" correct as there seems to have been some inaccuracies in the later years of import.

My title claims 1970, with a VIN of K111L4260. I'd like to try to once and for all narrow down what year I really have before I start buying parts.

I need a rear window, mine is plastic, cracked and cant see through it, I guess I need to sort that out before I go to far, just to keep the Florida rain out.

Keeping my fingers crossed I can make progress this time around.

Rob

Rob The 68's I think were the last year for plexiglass rear windows. Is it a 3 speed or 4 speed? If it's a 4 speed some one may have made a rear window from plastic, being unable to find a glass one. I have a extra glass one.

Rob - welcome to The Club! Thanks for VIN, new to my master lis.

Your VIN says it is a '69 (some parts changed from '69) but fairly
early '69 since most has glass rear windows.

Nearest VIN K111l 4253 is also owned by a member in FL,
nexr K111l 4265 is in IN.

My Young SS is apparently around March '69 - and has acrylic back window (although I think it was part of the essential "go faster" ingredients along with dual carbs, lower ride height and bonnet/roof stripes!).

The reason it is titled as a '70 is most likely that it was first licensed in 1970.
