New 360 Van owner, Michigan
Hello! I'm new here! I dived in and grabbed a 360 Van! It's a bit rough, but runs. The person I bought it from lives near Atlanta, so I am still arranging the details to go there to transport it back (unless someone around me happens to like driving and is going that way!!)
I'm very excited to fix this little guy up and have it in my garage. I've got many plans for it, to include small flea market and farmer market runs on the weekends and the Dream Cruise on Woodward. But I have a lot of work to do!
Brakes/rear passenger window are the first things to get fixed up before I start restoring it. Oh, I need the triangle vent window in the drivers side as well.
Here a link to the photos; it's a bit right but it runs.

Anyone have a picture of a 360 Van next to a Smart Car or a Mini Cooper?
Look forward to talking to you all and learning about this wonderful van!

Congrats on finding and buying a really rare and sought after vehicle! They're hard to get into good running condition but well worth it when you do! I suggest you put your location onto your icon on the left side of the page.

I meant a modern smartcar but that'll do!
Your van has me within an internal conflict regarding color scheme.
You pulled off the colored/painted bumper look very well. So I'm debating on this or "Stanley" chrome style.

Re: New 360 Van owner, Michigan
I located another one prior to this one but decided against it due to missing parts and it was not running. The one I bought is from someone that bought it recently. Or I think he did. He may be a member here as well. Great guy from my dealings with him. I may still have to call that other one if I can't find glass or figure out brakes. Time for me to dive into the site and read up on this stuff!rogerbhp wrote:Congrats on finding and buying a really rare and sought after vehicle! That's a great picture. But I meant the 360 van next to a smart car.
I think a smart car is taller than our little vans. I own a 2006 Honda Insight as a daily commuter; and looked up the dimensions: the van is smaller than that. And that car is TINY.
I can't wait to get my van to Michigan and start working on it.

With the amount of vehicles you own Mark, that truck should be your next acquisition!!
(Can I ask where you sourced that photo? all we've had so far of that truck is a fuzzy B&W shot!)
Cheers,
Ian

Re: New 360 Van owner, Michigan
I don't know if you are still looking for glass but... windshields are available from Garm on ebay (micro image) and all of the other pieces are flat and can be made. The glass you want is tempered, clear and 3mm thick. This place in Washington lists 3mm glass as something they do. The glass on each side of the car is a mirror image of the other. Eg. they should be able to make a wing window from either side. https://www.sandersreproglass.com/

Re: New 360 Van owner, Michigan
Here’s my progress: I finally arranged for it to be shipped to Michigan. It arrives tomorrow
I’m excited!
I’ll take pics and let you all know what I think.
The previous owner said that there isn’t any dope in the tranny; because he couldn’t find a fill plug.
Thoughts on this? I’ll start diving into the forums again!
More tomorrow..

DeLee,
Where in Michigan are you? I am in Muskegon, and have just a few parts left. Not sure what things you need, but I am restoring a truck right now. I have a 69 Pickup, a 70 pickup, a 68 Hot Dog Vendor, and my brother has a MINT 68 Van. If you need any help with things, let me know.
Thanks,
Jon

Hi Jon! I live in Royal Oak. This is a whole new endeavor for me. So I have no idea what I need and don’t need.J.Blakeman wrote: ↑6 years ago DeLee,

The van runs/drives. Except right now; no dope in tranny. Brakes need to be done. Other than that; restoration. I know I have a back seat; but need to restore it all. Can’t wait to dive in.
I will be interested to reach out to you to see what is needed. And your brother’s van could assist with figuring things out.

Welcome aboard!!! Read & ask ?s, it will help from ruining a hard to find part. Also throw NOTHING away til you have another in hand. I still keep s things that are broken or damaged, for patterns or small bits. Garm will have your brake rebuild parts.

Re: New 360 Van owner, Michigan
Van arrived about an hour ago.
Not in the condition I was expecting at all.
It was sold as running and drivable. But no brakes.
This think Is not turn key ready to run. Sadly I’m a bit at a loss for words to describe it. It seems to be a MUCH bigger project than anticipated.
Initial reaction was to sell it to someone else and free my driveway of it. Before I even got it in the driveway I got a honk from someone driving down the street and heard him yell “that’s cool!” So now I think I just need to take a step back and think about it. I’m not hopeful of a “Stanley” look-a-like. Even though that would be cool. But I’ve got a lot to do for this thing to be close to being ready for driving around.
At least I got a back seat. Lol. I can smile at that. No brake pedal or throttle line hooked up to the carb: But I got a back seat.
Right now all I could do is laugh and throw a tarp on it.

The worse thing you could do is cover it with a tarp. It holds the moisture in, like a greenhouse.

I'd love to check it out sometime. I'm only 30 minutes from you right now. I'm moving to toledo next week.... I will still be in the area for work and Toledo isn't that far.
I still have yet to see another van besides my own. It would be fun. My van and garage is all packed up right now otherwise I'd invite you over. Your welcome to come down to Toledo to check it out anytime once we get settled.
My mother in law is at my house right now helping us pack the house up. So I'd enjoy sneaking off for an hour or so.

Sad and as quick of a reaction this may be; I’m leaning towards selling this. I think it can be restored and not just a parts van.
