New Memember in Knoxville, TN

#1 Post by 71SubStar360 »

Hi, My name is Rebekah and I recently discovered Subarus lesser known cars, and I fell in love. So I'm looking for my first 360 and any help I can get. Thanks!

Hi Rebekah,

Welcome! What ever became of that sedan that you told me about a while back? It seemed like a good basis for a restoration from what I saw and heard, and the price was right...

Sadly my brother talked me out of it, He doesn't want me getting in over my head. I still might get it though. I've never really worked on cars, so I am not sure what all it would require. I have the time and the money for it, just not the skill.

Welcome Thats are very straight looking sedan, if all the pieces are there. You have a good micro guy in Knoxville, Vespa's Goggomobile's, he understands 2 strokes & has been around for along time. His name is Larry Newberry/ Repo man.

Thank you. I'll try to get in touch with him. The car itself is missing the roof, front, and back window. But everything else is there and it comes with one complete engine and two parts engines. It's rust free from what I can tell and I've talked him down to about $700.
Just trying to figure out what parts are going to run me.

You decided you wanted a Subaru 360 - that automatically means that you have gotten "in over your head"

But seriously, if that particular 360 is "all there" (except for the parts you mentioned), and the body is straight, and the engine is intact and serviceable, then you are actually doing fairly well, regardless of what it looks like right now, especially for $700.

If you do buy it, I have a rear window! The rubber moulding around it is another topic however...

Regarding a lack of "skill", the 360 is a great, simplistic car to develop them on, and this is the perfect place for advice on every little thing as you go.

Rebekah, have you downloaded the "BOR" yet? Every nut and bolt on the 360 has been considered over the years, and this document reflects it. If you don't have it yet, see this thread to get started...

And don't forget to get the manuals!

Welcome to The Club! There are a bunch of real 360 enthusiasts in
TN, check the Roster. And be sure to get to LANE MOTOR MUSEUM
next time you are in Nashville! The Fastrack II that Jeff has on
display used to be mine.

When you go, find Jeff Lane (or someone else that works there) and tell them of your search. You never know who'll have a lead on a 360...

Here's A video about the Lane Motor Museum. Ed's car is at 7:10.

Hey oldone, do my eyes deceive me, or is that an NSU Sport Prinz at 5:35?
