New Van Member from Kansas City

#1 Post by jeremyrschroeder »

Jeremy from Kansas City here, I just made it home from San Deigo with my new bright yellow Subaru 360 Van! (A nice little 3,000 mile trip!)
I bought it from a hot rod builder whose auction didn't end with any winners. He dressed it up like a taxi:
http://www.mysubaru360.com/photos/ebay/ ... index.html

VIN: K163L005039
EK32-73508

For the most part it is in pretty good shape. Good frame, tires, glass, chrome and nice custom interrior. He did do a pretty good job but missing some original parts - like i said he built rods and came up with some interesting solutions - like the hot rod tail lights. It needs some work still on the engine - I am reading up on it for now, though very excited to get this van running solid again!

The seller gave me a few box of parts so will be listing those soon. I am in search of a good muffler and original gas tank. Please let me know if you know of any good alternatives. I believe i have the prechamber to the sedan currently so will be selling that soon if any one needs one.

Below is the list of what I am in search of - thanks in advance for your help - loving the forum.

Parts Needed:
Most Important:
Muffler (OG or good alternative)
Fuel Tank (OG or good alternative)

Visors & mirror
Driver door inner handles
window crank (1)
Reverse Light
Orginal Gas Pedal
Quater vent window rubber channeling ( Heard this is made out of Unobtanium - funny)

Thanks again and shoot me an email if your up around Kansas City

Nice! I'm just over in Shawnee (yes, Kansas) with a 360 sedan. I'm on the hunt for a van though! What a fun ride that will be.

That's a nice TAXI van. I wondered what happened to it..... You need a real van air filter housing, it will run and sound better with the original. Welcome!

WELCOME ABOARD JEREMY!!

VERY nice van there!! The good news is...you are in the best community in the world for support and camaraderie! The bad news is.... well, I'm going to have to cheat you on the bad news, because I haven't found any in this club, so you'll have to do without in that arena.

Welcome to The Club! I may have a few of the parts you are looking for, will check and let you know by e-mail. We are still driving the same van - every day - that we bought in Feb. '75. Still have lots of fun, lots of comments, great gas mileage.

Hi Jeremy,

Welcome! It's good to see that that van has gone to a good home! It sure is a nice one. Are you planning on keeping the taxi motif, or will you go for something a little less attention-getting (if such a thing is possible!)

San Diego to Kansas City isn't 3,000 miles on MY map - sounds like a story...

Would the round sedan air filter version work in the van? Is there not enough room in the capartment for that rounder version? I imagine that is why there was a two seperate version styles designed.

The airflow is most important, it seems. It's been noted many times that aftermarket attempts cause a loss in power. So the tins/surrounding enclosure are key to making it work right.

The van housing is triangular to fit the tight fit and has the correct volume as well as the cold air inlet from the frame duct is crucial to offset detonation

Trying to get everything running good for spring - finally got plates today.

My little hot rod taxi is now street legal! Now on to the installing my newly restored gas tank, get the exhaust fixed, brakes tested finished, etc... etc... etc...
