Hello From Novato California

#1 Post by licmotorsports »

Ever since my brother and I have been working on Subarus we always have been on the look out for one of these. We know they are hard to come by and ALWAYS need work, if they even run at all. We finally found one, it runs, its decent, and will be a fun project car for the shop. We bought this one from a current member here on the 360 club. Have a look at our 1969 Subaru 360 Van.

Our names are Adam and Noah

we did a formal release on our website: LIC Motorsports goes 360!

I'd love to find some things right off the bat but I need to research this forum before I just blindly start posting "wanted" posts ;-)

We are really excited to have finally found a 360 van, we've been looking for a very long time. I knew when we finally got one, the stresses of finding the other items would be a lot worse, lol.

Thanks for the warm welcome Subie Gal (by the way love your 1970, looks great!)

Welcome Adam & Noah! I've been driving a 360 van daily for almost 37 years and have never (yet!) been stuck on the road with it. Bought it when gas had soared to 45 cents a gallon and now at nearly 10x that it makes even more sense.

Welcome guys. I've seen that van for sale a few times now, it looks like it found a good home.

Great picture BTW

completely agree and very cool to hear the love you have for this awesome vehicle.

We hope to get it looking as good as we can and find some parts to make it look even better. I've seen some great videos from you 2stroketurbo and actually a customer of our shop (he goes by kostamojen on every board that I'm aware of) recommended I contact you in regards to parts. Maybe we can chat one of these days ;)

here is a image of what's happening to it today (gets primer tomorrow and hopefully paint...wanted to stop the rust on the roof and smooth out a lot of the dimpling that was going on).

Not that I'm aware of...there was a decent sized amount of broken/lifted bondo on the front of the roof and was some surface rust that I was afraid would turn to rot if we didn't act quickly. I know, had the car less than 24 hrs and its at body shop. The funny thing was when we got back to the shop I drove it off the trailer and straight to body shop for estimate on fixing the roof. This image is from the paint booth at our local body shop we use.

well being in the car business you guys must get some kind of discount?
(10 years I spent working at Subaru we had a few favorite body shops  )

Either way, glad to see the immediate repair being made to the van.

That little van is probably happier right now than it has been in years!!!

of for sure we get a few bucks off ;)

yeah I'm glad they weren't busy the day I brought it in so they could start on it right away...

I was hoping to find tires during this down time but that's been about a days worth of time going in circles (of course you guys know how that goes as you've been there and done that, me not so much...until now, ha ha). I think the tires on the car are worse than the roof, or as bad as the roof was. I'll keep looking on my end...

a buddy found a spare 1969 360 van thats around the bay area of where we are, we tracked down the owner and I chatted with him but he was unrealistic on what he wanted for the thing and its in really bad shape. Sucks to see one of these just sitting and being left to rot...actually kind of made me mad. There are so few of these and to waste it seems silly. These are such cool cars, such a shame.

woo hoo...found some tires! Was stressing about that one.

the place I got them from says they always have them in stock

we ended up getting Falken 145/80R10 (and its a radial), closest we could come and all our calculations say it should work out just fine (hoping)
