Need to log in every time

#1 Post by subaru360nut »

Don't know if this is due to the rebuilt computer I got recently or the Website, but every time I click DISCUSSION FORUMS on "My Favorites" I have to log in, even though every time I log in I check "remember me" or what used to let me log in automatically. Is everyone having this same problem or is it my computer that "forgets" my log in info?

Maybe your internet security settings are set too high. When you select the button to log you in automatically, the website puts that info in a "cookie" that it saves on your PC. When you go back to the club website later, it checks it's cookie on your PC for login info. If it's not there (because your security settings don't allow it) then it can't log you in automatically.

I am not quite sure of the procedure with AOL's browser, but you'll need to "enable cookies". Look at this page; hopefully there's something in here that can help...

About halfway down there is a section called "Enable Cookies for Internet Explorer®"

Good luck,
Steve

it's definitely an internet browser cookie issue... I had the same problem with firefox on my unix laptop... what I had to do what enable my 3rd party cookies (or in IE set your security to Low) and log in, then change my settings back to normal after... had to do that on the other subaru board as well...

Ed there should be a little check box that says remember my user name and password. Check it and problem solved.

I check the box every time but it makes no difference. I will try the cookie thing.

Thanks,

I haven't been able to log in for three weeks!. I even got the dreaded you have to now enter the special code because you've tried too many times.

.Arrgh!

I don't know why, I guess I got lucky today.

This is pretty ridiculous......

I use google chrome and Firefox as browsers and still need to log in every time.

It saves my password/details, but wont allow auto log in

I don't know why guys, must be a software issue.

I'll continue to mess with it.

Sometimes browsers can hiccup if they cache or dont flush cache of frequently visited sites.

I have changed the name of the cookie that is placed on your computer.. sometimes this very issue can be resolved in this way.

Expired cookies can be cached and return to the site invalid results that can prevent a sucessful login.

Please let me know if this helped.

HA! - your cookie-shuffling must be why I just had to log in to read this! Then I closed my browser and came back again - no login needed this time.

Whatever you did, I couldn't log in. I cleared cookies and now I can again.
