A key element for me would be to able post gallery pictures easily. I think the old message board could have really benefitted from that. Besides, we all want to see your 360 projects as they near completion. You got lots of time to work on those don't you Jamie? Seriously though, I hope this new site has easy picture upload ability and lots of room to store them. It would make this my all time favorite site ever!

Hi Mark
here's an example of how you can pull in your own image gallery
viewtopic.php?t=11
i pulled images from my personal web space, and linked them here.
Right now. subaru360club.org does not have a massive amount of space in which to host everybody's personal photo collection.
We can host the odd photo here and there, please continue to submit those....
But, for a full gallery? you'll need to link you photos from your personal space.
You cannot, at this time, upload images from your computer.
There are image hosting services on the www.
Host your images there, then link them here.
I would suggest try using:
http://www.tinypic.com
or
http://www.photobucket.com
here is a step-by-step method on how to link photos once hosted
Linking a file from the Internet
Step One:
First thing to do is hit "new thread" or "post reply" depending on when/why you are posting.
Next, type out the text of your thread.
Step Two:
Then, go to the webpage with the photo you are wanting to link
and "right-mouse-click" the picture
(not on the page, it MUST be on the picture itself!!)
A box will pop up - scroll all the way down to the bottom -
click on "properties."
You should see another box pop up
There is a value titled "Address (URL)"- that is the URL for the picture.
Highlight that value (everything including "http" all the way to the end (it may be a very long URL and run on besides what you can see... keep highlighting until you have ALL of it, or it will not work).
Copy the URL - "right-mouse-click" - select > copy
DO NOT use the URL in the Address bar of your browser!
Step Three:
Take the URL you just copied, and insert it between "image tags"
Image tags:
[ img] [/ img ] (but without the spaces)
If you do not use that exact format, the picture will show up on the board as a "Red X" box.
Step Four:
The last thing to do is to check your work by previewing your post
NOTES: Many sites, geocities and angelfire being among them, will NOT allow you to directly link photos in this manner- don't bother trying.
I will write and post a full tutorial possibly tonight
It's not as hard as it may seem.
try linking a photo, any photo from http://www.subiegal.com
do contact me with questions

no problem.2stroketurbo wrote:They're in luck.! I have plenty of 360 pictures to upload! Bieng they are into Subies they would apprciate them more. I'm not keen that cardomain puts their web advertisement right square in front of the picture....? 360s are so small anyway...Thanks for the tip Jamie.
i'll start a "how to post a photo" official thread here in a while
got to make up a full tutorial with photos...

Jamie, I'm bummed to say the Ultimate Subaru club has no way to upload pictures. Seems it hacks off even the longtime subscribers. I thought it was just because I was new. Been trying since you suggested
very frustrating
I am SO looking forward to a photo friendly Subaru 360 atmoshphere. I hope you can make this one work good.

Got it
hmmmmmmmmm
i'm going to email the site owners (good friends of mine)
and see what the deal is....
maybe you have to have xxx amount of posts before you can upload?
if so...
I'll ask them if this crew can be an exception to this 'rule'
