Returning member with renewed quest to get my 360 running!

#1 Post by mpilihp »

So my journey started 10 years ago when I purchased 3 360s and I've taken several long breaks from working on it, I'm determined there will be no more breaks until I can drive it!

So quick update where I stand, body is done, I have all the pieces /parts I think I need but have had several setbacks. First was reassembling the body and having issues with getting the doors to close properly, done. My current issues is the brakes and the transaxle leaking.

Two years ago Ed graciously offered to rebuild the master as I couldn't get it assembled correct. I then discovered the body I gave him to rebuild had crossed threads on one of the fitting connector, things got busy and frustrated so I put it away again in 2014.

The other issue is the transaxle leaks oil like a sieve at the point where the axles go in, it has new boots so pretty sure its the inner seals, which I have a set of it looks like (forgot I bought them)

Another issue is the oil pump, I took it off to test/verify it works and run lighter oil through it and took the wrong bolt out and now its messed up. I couldn't seam to figure out how to put it back together, will re-read Ed's post and hopefully I can.

Then of course I need to get the engine running, which it never has. I have a backup plan for these last issues, my second 360 engine has run in my presence so I can just swap that in and work on the other one when its out.

Reality is I probably will only get this one running, I need the space in the garage, my wife got herself a TR6 so now we are crammed for space!

Thanks for listening

Phil - the mistake was taking the oil pump apart.
If you took out the "guide" bolt from the bottom
do not try to reinstall it unless you are sure it is
aligned (no ridge showing in the hole) or you can
strip it and I have no spares of this part.

But I still rebuild oil pumps and carbs so if you
want to send me all the parts you have for your
oil pump including inlet banjo fitting & bolt and
outlet check valve, I will see if it can be made to
work up to spec again.

If you ever find a need for it, we still have an extra guide bolt we made for our sedan sitting around. We made two and only really have a use for one.

If it's longer than 36 years, then you may use the term "slow"....... otherwise, you are progressing quite rapidly - compared to myself!
(I did apologise for my being tardy, didn't I?)
