Hello all, fixing up my 360 in Michigan

#1 Post by Tony_camp »

First time on a forum so I'm a noob. Every one I've encountered so far from the 360 club has been great and helpful.

I'm currently in the process of working on my 70' sedan. Needs engine rebuild , brakes, some interior work and a bunch of odds and ends but I very much want to finish him up by spring/summer. Our family has named him "yoshi" if this name is taken let us know and I'll have a talk with him about an alternate.

I don't think we are doing a total all nut and bolt restoration but rather a reliable clean driver. We just bought this 360 2-3 weeks ago and currently have the interior out, engine out and am still accessing the situation of what all needs repair or replacement .

We are very outgoing people and live in Marshall Michigan, if you are near by us we'd love to chat about these cool cars and I'm sure I'd benefit from some brain picking of someone that knows more than myself. My family (wife and 2 children) look forward to cruising in our little "yoshi".

I tried to post pics but had no luck , with a little investigation I found out that my pictures were too large. I could only get one pic out of 10 to get through. Admittedly I'm not computer savvy when it comes to this stuff

Welcome! Maybe you can teach us stuff too. What did you use to polish the knobs?

Hey micro image,

I used a buffing wheel on a dremel style tool , boat or car wax and a paint marker to fill in the designs (using a paperclip as a paint brush). This idea was courtesy of Mark , via youtube. At 2stroketurbo .

I have simply applied high heat to knobs/steering wheels in the past using a torch when restoring tractors and they magically look like new but CAN'T RECOMMEND DOING SO on the 360 as I have yet to test it and am sure the plastic compound is different .

Thanks very much Steve, he's getting there slowly (I'm impatient)

Micro image, the tail lights were wet sanded with 600 grit , then 1200 , then 2000. And finally cleaned and clear coated

Pulling out the clutch to inspect. My problem is that I've never seen a 360 before I purchased mine so I'm kind of building a car from little more than scratch so to speak. .. If I had been around one that ran and stopped this would have been less frustrating because I'd have something to compare a broke one to . But with all the generous help from you all , I Keep plugging away and learning more each day about this car I love.. special thanks to ED, the subaru360nut/guru for your help answering all my plethora of questions and emails (currently has my carb and oil pump).. just wish there was an enthusiast closer to my home to offer a little guidance on this beast. The BOR has been a big help.

You shouldn't need a fuel pump (unless you have a non-stock fuel tank that is lower than the carb). Looking good! Nice progress!

Most fuel pumps (even micro ones) will deliver too much pressure to the 360 carb. Regulator is recommended if you do a pump.

The sedan shouldn't need one, and mine ran better without it. (tried it both ways)

OK ,

thanks , now I'll try it without the pump and regulator, if it runs decent I'll just leave it off . Thanks for the heads up.
