Fraternal Subaru 360 Twins in Texas

#1 Post by davidsemien65 »

Hello! This is David and Sig Semien from Deep East Texas!

My wife and I are new to owning Subaru's of any type and these two 360's will be our first project car(s). I can't believe what we've gotten ourselves into!!

We've purchased two, 1970, 360's, one deluxe and one standard. They've happily been named Right Sk8t and Left Sk8t. For purposes of inventory and restoration, we needed to name the babies! We're owners of two skating rinks and would like to restore both of them for parades.

Did I read somewhere that we should post our VINs in order to help with deciphering what's needed? If so, I can do that, too.

So happy to have found this club. We look forward to a couple years of advice, great stories/pictures, and help!

Hey, welcome! This is truly THE place to be if you own a 360.

I trust you have gotten all the manuals from the link below? Also, have you been able to download the "BOR" (book of reprints)? All that and the expertise you will find here will get you on your way.

Best of luck,
Stevew

Welcome!! and congrats on your next big project.

Taking the production numbers into account both of your sedans are likely Deluxe models however sedans came in two flavors to us in the states, Deluxe and Young variants.

There are tell tale features to identify the two from one another but other than the trim package they are mechanically identical.

The Young variant will have a Young badge(obviously), speedo/tach cluster, leather wrapped steering wheel, bucket seats, maroon shifter knob, solid hood (no grille slots) and the most identifiable feature is that the wipers will park with the tips facing the passenger side.

If your sedan without a badge doesn't have the listed features, its a Deluxe as well.

But again, Welcome and congrats! I can't wait to read of your progress.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have really started anything yet, will start to inventory everything as soon as I get time and some relief from this heat out here in East Texas.

Welcome to The Club!

You have the ideal setup -
when you wonder if a part is misbehaving on
one car you can borrow the good part from the
other car and see if that is what you need to
replace on the first one 8)
